Summary of the November 2007 meetings of Debenham Parish Council (PC) Police Report. Unfortunately the Police were unable to attend the meeting but had forwarded the report. Since the Parish Council meeting on the 15th October there had been six reported crimes in Debenham, four of which were of criminal damage. We believe that the Police are confident that a number of parishioners know who are responsible for these crimes but do not want to come forward owing to fear of reprisal. PCSO Bales urges that any crime is reported totally anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. The information will then be forwarded to the local Police in order that action can be taken to stop this increasing problem in our community. PCSO Bales also wished to remind the parishioners of the need to be extra vigilant in the storing of Christmas presents. Don’t make it easy for the thieves by leaving gifts on show in cars, living rooms, out-houses etc. Finally please contact the officers at Debenham Police Station regarding criminal, suspicious or anti-social activities on 01473 613500 or call the Community Information Hotline on 01284 774029.Debenham High School The Parish Council wishes to congratulate the High School pupils, staff and governors for coming 43rd out of all comprehensive schools in the country for academic achievement. An achievement for which they should be very proud. Upper Gardeners Road Play Area. A new safety gate and barrier are to be installed at the Upper Gardeners Road play area in the next week or so. Public Toilets, The Council is very disappointed to report the criminal damage that occurred at the toilets on the evening of Sunday 11th November 2007. A number of youths were seen kicking the ladies door and have consequently caused a great deal of damage to the door, necessitating its replacement. Until the repairs are complete, the ladies and disabled toilet will be out of action, necessitating parishioners and visitors to use the Gents toilets. A notice has been placed on the toilets to this effect. The Council and Police would be very grateful if you could report any information that you have in confidence to the local Police directly or anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. The Council sincerely apologises for the inconvenience that this causes the people of Debenham. River Dredging. Unfortunately due to the recent high spring tides and flood damage the Environment Agency has been very involved in repairing the coastline defences. This has caused the advised date of the river dredging to be pushed back. The Council has been assured that the work will still take place and is due to commence imminently.
