Summary of the June 2007 meetings of
Debenham Parish Council (PC)
Co-option of Parish Councillors. Only one vacancy remains, come on, don’t miss out on the opportunity to play a vital part in managing our village! Contact the Clerk, Nikki Rush for more information on 01728 860319
Joint Police and Parish Surgery. The Council is very pleased to report on the success of the recent Joint Parish Council and Police Surgery which took place on the 2nd June 07. Despite it being a lovely day those present were pleased with the number of parishioners who visited the surgery, to not only speak of any concerns but also to meet some of the new Police Neighbourhood Team. All concerns raised were brought to Council on the 11th June meeting and all actions have been requested from the relevant responsible parties. The date of the next Surgery has yet to be finalised, however it is anticipated to be at the beginning of October – so watch this space for further details!!!
Cemetery It has been reported to Council that some people are parking in the turning circle in the Cemetery whilst they walk their dog – kinda defeats the object of the exercise really! Council requests that those people park in the Aspall Road car park so as to allow those visiting the graves with a disability to have a clear access.
Lake. Yes it’s that time of the year again where it is very tempting to allow your dogs to go swimming (and even yourself) in the lake. There are three very important reasons why swimming is strictly prohibited. 1) Risk of catching Weils disease (which I understand is most unpleasant!) 2) Cutting of limbs on the metal plant containers used to weigh the plants down; and finally 3) Scaring the fish to death!
PLEASE, FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY DO NOT SWIM IN THE LAKE!!
Speedwatch. Training has now taken place and risk assessments are about to be done on the suggested locations – so watch out Speed Watch is about!
Why not start reducing your speed now so as to avoid being caught and receiving ‘one’ of those letters?
Parking in the Village Yes I know it’s a problem, however vehicles parking on grass verges are making the area look very untidy! How about those of you with garages clearing them out, having a car boot sale, making some money and creating somewhere to park your car! Sounds like a bargain to me! Seriously though we should all be proud of our village and continue to look after it. Therefore please do not park on the verges (apart from looking unsightly; MSDC can not cut the grass!)
Planning.
