Summary of the April 2007 meeting of

Debenham Parish Council (PC)

Co-option of Parish Councillors. Following the announcement of candidates for the  May election Debenham Parish Council has four vacancies to fill via co-option. It is vitally important that a wide sector of the community is represented in Council to ensure balanced views and decisions are made. There is a lot of team work and, dare I say, quite a few laughs as well! It is certainly not the stereotypical stuffy council that some  reputations would have you believe.

We take great pride in our village and have confidently moved into the 21st century!

Yes the job can be demanding some times (not trying to fool anyone), and the rewards are limited to the feeling of achievement and contribution, but these can be considerable!  So why not give it a go? We really need you. Contact the Clerk, Nikki Rush for more information on 01728 860319

Police Update We have more Police presence in the village! Following a review, the Police have appointed two new Police Community Support Officers, Chris Bales and Suzy Jessop to the village. Along with them the PC wishes to welcome the new Sergeant, Nick Emerick who, along with PC Gibbs and PC Gwynn, form the new neighbourhood team which will become fully operational as of the 1st June 07. One of the many benefits of having more officers based at the station in Debenham is the increase in visibility and an anticipated fall in the crime rate. It is hoped to have a joint PC Surgery with the Police at the beginning of June, which could be a regular occurrence in the future – Date of the June Surgery to be announced!

Website Following the resignation of the website editor, the Parish Council was delighted to report that Barry Woods will be taking over from Reeza Awoodun from the 1st May 07. Mr Woods has considerable experience in community website management and will be able to build on Reeza's achievements over the past three years.  The Council wishes to thank Reeza for all his hard work and commitment and wishes him and his family well for the future.

Annual Parish Meeting. Just a reminder that the important Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Monday 30th April at 7.30pm in Dove Cottage. All are welcome.
