Scouts, Cubs and Beavers
This
has been a very busy year for all our sections.
We
have twenty Scouts and two Leaders. The Scouts have enjoyed a very full year of
activities, camps and hikes aplenty.
The
Cubs members are at thirty with one Leader trained and three others in
training; but still doing the job. This is the second largest group in the
District. The Cubs have been working hard on project work completing lots of
badges.
The
Beavers have eighteen children, two trained Leaders and one working towards
their qualifications. The Beavers have also been working on attaining their
badges.
All
sections have been to Duxford this year to do their
Air Activities badge. It was a cold wet and windy day, but all achieved their
badges.
This
is Scouting’s Centenary years. There will be a big District Camp at Haughley Oark over the spring
bank holiday weekend. There are over 400 young people expected to attend.
Talking
of birthdays, it’s now been 20 years since Scouting was re-introduced to
Debenham. Two of the original team are still active in our group. Ron Walters
is our Group Scout Leader and Tamara Walters is our Beaver Scout Leader. Many thanks to them all for their hard work over the years.
Of course these thanks are also extended to all of our Leaders who contribute
so much to our Scouting children.
